New Orleans Saints tickets are reaching a peak in offseason popularity. The NFL Draft just ended, and now the Saints have a slew of good new players to help out the team. But how will the rookies help the Saints? Will they make a potent part of the offense even better? Or will they give a boost to an area that was weak in 2007? Let’s take a look at some of the numbers and speculate about how they will get better next year due to the contribution of the new players. Then, once you get the scoop on the improvements the team has made, you can get some New Orleans Saints tickets for the upcoming season.
If you got tickets to the Saints’ games last year, or you were a fan who follows the numbers, you know that on the defensive side of the ball, the Saints were excellent at keeping their opponents from rushing into the end zone. They only allowed 7 rushing TDs all year long, the third fewest in the NFL. Will they get even better at keeping their opponents from scoring on the ground with their newest DT, Sedrick Ellis of USC? The Saints traded with San Francisco to get the seventh overall pick, and they picked up Ellis, who was one of the best defensive lineman available. Some people liked Glen Dorsey better, but there’s certainly some debate about the issue. At any rate, Ellis should start right away, and you can expect that he’ll improve both the rush defense and the attack on the quarterback. The addition of DeMario Pressley, the 144th pick overall, will help the pass rush in some situations, but he will probably find more time on the bench than Ellis. The Saints made a marked effort to improve their D-line, and we like the move.
What area of the team did they need help with the least? The passing game. The Saints gained 4,423 passing yards in 2007, which is why they did not try to get much help in that area. Normally 4,423 yards would rank a quarterback No. 1 in the league, but with Tom Brady having the year he did, Drew Brees placed 2nd. Brees was the only quarterback all season for the Saints. He was No. 1 in the league in passes completed, ahead of Tom Brady with 440. He also had a 2.40 sack percentage, the best in the league, despite attempting the most passes (40.8 per game). And the running game wasn’t bad either. To help get better in their already-strong offense, the Saints drafted 5th rounder Carl Nicks from Nebraska, an offensive lineman. They also got Adrian Arrington, a wide receiver who is a long shot, but has the mental side of the game down, such that he might wind up getting some playing time on long-yardage situations. So when you get New Orleans Saints tickets next season, you should notice the difference on defense first, and the offense ought to continue to excel.
